Mode of action:
- Kordon is a non-systemic pyrethroid insecticide with a stomach and contact with a residual effect enhanced by the presence of an synergist piperonyl butoxide (PBO), which works by inhibiting the insect's natural enzymatic defense mechanisms, specifically the mixed-function oxidase (MFO's) system (cytochrome P-450 mixed-function oxidase system which is the primary factor for detoxifying insects, and causes the oxidative catabolism of insecticides such as pyrethrins and synthetic pyrethroids. Therefore, when piperonyl butoxide is added, higher levels of the insecticide remain in the insect to exert its lethal effect.
